My client is an independent insurance agency looking for an insurance bookkeeper for their Tampa, FL office. They offer a wide-range of insurance products, services and pricing. The ideal candidate must have General Ledger experience through financial preparation including:

AP, AR, Banking, and Bank reconciliations
Agency billing
Direct bill receipt entry and reconciliation
Preparation and distribution of all Producer & Broker commission statements
Maintain statement of cash receipts; forward to senior management
Reconcile Bank and various Balance Sheet accounts; printing of financials.

The candidate must have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting or 5+ years of directly related experience. Insurance industry accounting experience required: AMS or AMS360 &/or Applied Insurance Software experience and knowledge of Excel. Working knowledge & understanding of GAP and Workers Compensation insurance.

DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT Jacksonville, FL

This position delivers business results through effective and efficient utilization of Product Development resources. Responsibilities include overall strategic oversight and leadership direction within Product Development functions. Administers and oversees through the supervision of the respective subordinate staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL, BASIC AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION. THESE FUNCTIONS ARE NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF ALL RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED.

• Direct Product Development Operations, to include the development and maintenance of filed manuals, procedures, forms and contracts.
• Review procedures and policy forms for compliance with the Plan of Operations, Florida Statutes and the Office of Insurance Regulation Codes and Regulations.
• Manages projects which execute critical business and financial initiatives aimed at meeting organizational objectives.
• Participate with senior management in the development and implementation of Product Development policies and business strategy.
• Oversee the preparation of filings submitted to the Office of Insurance Regulation.
• Monitor the voluntary market and develop products to assure that coverage provided are appropriate.
• Provide leadership to Product Development organization in terms of personnel, execution of business initiatives and development of strategies to help achieve its organizational goals.
• Supervise, mentor, develop the subordinate staff and oversee Product Development training programs.
• Serve as liaison to the Office of Insurance Regulation; serve as member of the Actuarial and Underwriting Committee, and various other internal and external committees.
• Effectively and proactively direct the staffing and budgets of the units and teams.
• Oversee Voluntary Premium writing audit process.
• Foster and execute projects to drive standardization and simplification.
• Attend industry conventions or other meetings as a representative and speaker.
• Assist in negotiating external services as needed.
• Serve as technical consultant to staff, agents, property owners and company representatives.
• Prepare ad hoc information and reports and present findings and recommendations to management to include leadership team


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Extensive knowledge of personal and commercial lines property insurance, including experience with the regulatory filing process, negotiating positive outcomes with the regulatory offices, and overall knowledge of the regulatory environment.
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Strong team building skills.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel and Access.
• Ability to manage projects.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field; OR 4 years of relevant experience, OR a combination of college education and relevant experience equivalent to 4 years
• 7 or more years of experience in the property insurance field, of which 4 or more years should be in Product Development or Product Compliance
• Extensive experience with property insurance policy contracts to include the development and modification of contract language.
• 4 or more years of supervisory/managerial experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• MBA, CPCU, AIC, PLCA or CLCS designation.
• 10 or more years of progressively responsible experience in property insurance operations on insurance carrier side.
• Prior experience in all lines of P&C Insurance, including management experience in at least two specialized disciplines (Personal Lines Property, Commercial Lines Property, Personal Lines Liability, Commercial Lines Liability).
• 5 years experience in Product Development or Product Compliance
• Strong knowledge of Florida’s specific filing process.
• Prior experience working with Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR).

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• 7 years of IT experience, 5 of which in web, corporate business application systems development, and COTS experience, covering all phases of the software development life cycle.
• 2 years of J2EE/.Net experience
• 2 or more years of supervisory/managerial experience
• Object Oriented experience in Java/J2EE and .NET
