CAT Modeling Director NY, NY
Our client an A++ rated carrier with domestic and international reach has an opening for a professional to manage a Corporate CAT modeling unit which models our Client’s exposures to: US hurricanes, European windstorms, earthquakes, acts of terrorism, and infectious disease exposures from all relevant lines of business including property, work comp, life, and A&H.

Activities include:
  1. Providing modeling reports for financial statements, rating agency reports, corporate aggregate monitoring, reinsurance placements, underwriting, and senior management requests;
  2. Managing cat modeling staff (4 people currently);
  3. Being the lead liaison with our cat modeling vendors;
  4. Proving modeling assistance and training to profit centers and other areas of the company.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of CAT modeling experience as well as some actuarial experience. This is a Director level position with a salary to match – well into 6 figures.

VP, Controller Financial Reporting Florida
Experience in managing the financial reporting function of a property and casualty insurance company, including preparation of statutory and GAAP financial statements, consolidations, Pro Formas, analysis, budgeting and detailed reporting:

Reports directly to the President;
  • In charge of the oversight of the third-party administrator which performs day to day accounting transactions, accounts receivable, accounts payable, for an insurer and MGA.
  • Responsible for all accounting functions for an administrative services company and holding company;
  • Oversight of the preparation of statutory annual and quarterly statements and related filings
  • Responsible for the preparation of GAAP consolidating financial statements,including footnotes;
  • Maintenance of general ledgers and subsidiary ledgers, bank reconciliations, tracking of inter-company transactions and borrowings;
  • Quarter-end closings for each company including year-end audit coordination with external auditor, consolidations & elimination of entries for Balance Sheet & Profit & Loss reports;
  • Good working knowledge of Reinsurance Contracts and application;
  • Good working knowledge of Federal and State Income taxes; and
  • Good working knowledge of Investment accounting.

Senior Actuary Sarasota, FL
Our client is an established leader in the property and casualty insurance industry. They currently write business in thirteen states in three distinct U.S. regions. Our client is currently seeking an experience actuary with expertise in commercial lines P&C pricing. This is a highly visible position located in their Sarasota, FL office, offering strong potential for future growth.

My client offers an opportunity for an Associate level or Fellow of the Casualty Society to begin a truly rewarding career with them. The selected candidate will be involved in all facets of actuarial science within the growing commercial P&C insurance business but with particular emphasis on pricing lines and actuarial work in support of my client’s expansion. Other work will include producing rate level indications for commercial lines in the various states, making appropriate rate filings with state insurance departments and interacting with teams from different insurance functions including law & regulation, product development, state filings, systems, etc.

The perfect candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in mathematics or actuarial science and 5 to 10 years of property and casualty experience. They must possess expert knowledge of pricing and ratemaking in the commercial P&C environment. Loss reserving, insurance company operations and statutory accounting knowledge is required as well as experience preparing and presenting charts, graphs, diagrams and other pictorial representations of statistical data to corporate management. Knowledge of worker’s compensation in a plus but not required. Qualified candidates must also possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. Successful completion of seven exams is preferred.

Reinsurance Audit and Compliance Director Wilmington, DE
Our client is a well-respected international life insurance company, with strong financials, and is rated A+ by A. M. Best is seeking a dynamic individual to join their organization as Reinsurance Audit and Compliance Director. Responsibilities include developing comprehensive controls, processes and audit programs, including best practices. Other responsibilities include performing and documenting SOX testing and analysis as well as field and desk audits. The incumbent will also conduct an annual review of the program and revise it as business and regulatory environment changes.

An ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 year experience in insurance accounting as well as a minimum of 3 years experience in audit, preferably in SOX. Experience with all forms of reinsurance including coinsurance, Modco, YRT and funds withheld transactions as well as risk transfer concepts for US GAAP and Statutory accounting is also required. Excellent organization and communication skills are a must.

Actuarial Research Director Central Illinois

Our client is a well-respected national company, with strong financials, and is rated A- by A. M. Best and due to succession planning is seeking an experienced individual to join their operation in the role of Actuarial Research Director.  Responsibilities include designing newer, more innovative methodologies as well as overseeing various multivariate analysis to ensure projects are solidly documented, well structured and timely.  Other responsibilities include refining actuarial methods as well as improving efficiency and accuracy.

An ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Math or a related field as well as a minimum of 12 years experience in Actuarial, Product Management, Research or Reserving.  Other requirements include a minimum of five to seven Casualty Actuarial exams completed and actively pursuing FCAS designation.  Exceptional math skills as well as intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel and Access are also necessary.
