PRODUCT ANALYST MANAGER |

This position is responsible for leading the development and implementation of personal/ commercial products. In this role, the Senior Analyst serves as a subject matter expert for the assigned product(s) and makes recommendations in alignment with overall goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED.
• Research other carriers' rates, forms and underwriting rules to develop knowledge of the Florida market; identify and report on industry trends, product offerings (rules, rates and forms) and underwriting processes.
• Analyze product performance using internal underwriting and claims data. Utilize information developed to identify characteristics that drive or hinder product performance; assess options for improving products; and prioritize initiatives.
• Identify product improvement initiatives by applying results of market and data analysis and collaborating with Claims, Underwriting, Actuarial and other stakeholders to:
• Seek input and support for proposed changes; evaluate change impact on business units; adjust proposals as needed;
• Determine whether product rules/forms are performing as intended;
• Identify and evaluate both existing rates/rules/forms and proposed changes to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and overall goals;
• Lead workgroups as required for longer-term projects;
• Recommend changes and enhancements to rates, rules and forms to increase effectiveness and better support overall goals;
• Present conclusions and recommendations to department and senior management for approval.
• Coordinate submission and approval of rate, rule and form filings:
• Develop and submit regulatory and discretionary filings to OIR;
• Respond to OIR issues, requests or orders;
• Communicate progress/results to stakeholders.
• Initiate implementation of projects by working with business analysts to develop IT system requirements. Provide subject matter expertise and oversight to ensure successful project completion. Participate in final approval process to validate proper systematic application of rates/rules.
• Ensure successful communication of product changes to internal and external stakeholders. Provide detailed information required to support communications and training plans. Develop and conduct training sessions.
• Delegate and coordinate project work with Product Analysts to ensure completion within established deadlines; mentor product analysts to help them develop the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve success.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• In depth knowledge of ISO or similar personal/commercial property coverage forms and rating rules
• Ability to establish and maintain multiple priorities.
• Demonstrated analytical skills.
• Demonstrated persuasive and creative problem-solving skills.
• Well developed organizational and meeting management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal, written, collaboration and presentation, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including advanced Excel skills.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree OR 4 years relevant experience OR a combination of college education and relevant experience equivalent to 4 years
• 4 or more years of personal/commercial property insurance experience in product development, contract analysis or property insurance underwriting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Masters Degree
• 6 or more years of personal/commercial property insurance, product development, contract analysis and/or property insurance underwriting.
• Familiarity with commercial building valuation methods and tools as well as ISO commercial construction definitions/classifications.
• In depth knowledge of Florida market
• In depth experience developing insurance contract language and filing forms.
• CPCU or other insurance education

My client is a Personal Lines Insurance Company based in Florida. They are currently looking for an Underwriting Manager for their Ft. Worth, TX office. The Underwriting Manager is responsible for managing the staff and resources within the budget to meet or exceed Service Level Standards established for underwriting processes. The ideal candidate will implement underwriting philosophy, strategy and guidelines for personal lines property lines of business to develop profitable growth in all operating states.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. They must have 5+ years of recent industry experience to include advanced knowledge and understanding of personal lines products (Homeowners, Automobile an Umbrella) processes and fundamental underwriting principles. They must have recent experience underwriting personal lines in FL, TX, SC, AZ, NV, CA and HI. Also prior experience with product development, competitive analysis and pricing evaluation is helpful. Must have prior direct management experience.

This management position provides guidance and leadership to commercial underwriting staff. The position is responsible for managing the Commercial Lines Wind and Multi-peril underwriting book of business by controlling the underwriting results and maximizing the quality of insurance written.
• Responsible for managing staff, which includes recruiting, hiring, training, conducting performance reviews, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff.
• Assist in establishing policy and procedure, developing strategic goals and objectives and providing direction, support and leadership
• Provide direct oversight for day to day commercial underwriting and implement underwriting rules.
• Analyze effectiveness of underwriting rules and communicate suggested revisions to product development department.
• Monitor the quantity and quality of work performed by the business unit. Accountable for effective implementation of and adherence to established business processes and underwriting rules.
• Establish and adjust staff and workflows to facilitate the most efficient use of resources and provide the best possible service to internal and external customers.
• Explain coverage specifics to staff, insured, claims, and other business unit managers.
• Aids in the creation and development of new forms, practices, and procedures.
• Gives presentations to staff and varied management personnel
• Establish and monitor business unit processing standards and performance objectives.
• Resolve or recommend resolutions for significant underwriting and operational issues.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree in field with skills transferable to insurance OR combination of or education, work experience equivalent to four years of college.
• Six years of professional property / casualty underwriting experience, four of which are in commercial underwriting.
• 2 or more years in a supervisory/managerial role in Operations in the property insurance industry
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Strong knowledge of commercial underwriting principles, practices, and procedures.
• Strong knowledge of commercial property coverage and ISO commercial forms and rules.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of management and staff.
• Ability to prioritize projects, make decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.
• Advanced skill level using PC and software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills, to include the ability to develop appropriate recommendations
• Strong planning and organization skills
• Ability to provide effective leadership and build a team composed of diverse personalities.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Master's degree
• Possession of IIA Certificate in General Insurance, CPCU, AU or CIC.
• 3 or more years of supervisory/managerial experience in Commercial Underwriting setting.

The Underwriting Consultant serves as an Underwriting technical
expert for the organization. The Underwriting Consultant guides the
Underwriting Organization across a broad spectrum of property and
liability underwriting issues. This position proactively identifies
and monitors high exposure technical issues with organizational and
potential industry-wide impact related to Underwriting. The
Underwriting Consultant identifies solutions and processes for
Underwriting issues that have a direct and measurable positive

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•Create, distribute, monitor and maintain formal Underwriting

•Support and advise in a consultant capacity on handling of a
variety of high severity or frequent underwriting issues including
but not limited to commercial, sinkhole, valuation and mitigation.
•Partner with Legal Department to supply materials and both general
and specific information related to underwriting.
•Serve as Underwritings’ Corporate Representative in depositions and
provides input into discovery responses when appropriate.
•Provide feedback on underwriting internal and external audit
results and make recommendations for organizational improvements.
•Provide underwriting perspective and input to Claims and recommend
changes to the property contract or underwriting process to address
issues identified during the Claim process.
•Provide underwriting-related information to Executives that relates
to the financial impact to the Company.
•Consult with Legal as needed in formulation of formal company
policy.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills
•Strong verbal and written communication, leadership and
organizational skills.
•Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
•Strong working knowledge of multi-peril coverages and various
policy types including both current and previous ISO based policies
and endorsements.
•Strong knowledge of Florida property and casualty insurance
marketplace including matters of coverage, valuation assessment,
legal climate and property insurance laws.
•Mastery of property insurance principles.
•Solid interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management or
related field; OR 4 years relevant experience OR a combination of
college education and experience equivalent to 4 years.
•8 or more years of progressively responsible Property & Casualty
Underwriting experience (Personal & Commercial) - 3 years of which
served in a technical advisory role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•9 to 15 years Property & Casualty Underwriting experience (Personal
& Commercial lines)
•CPCU designation.
