CAT Modeling Director NY, NY
Our client an A++ rated carrier with domestic and international reach has an opening for a professional to manage a Corporate CAT modeling unit which models our Client’s exposures to: US hurricanes, European windstorms, earthquakes, acts of terrorism, and infectious disease exposures from all relevant lines of business including property, work comp, life, and A&H.

Activities include:
  1. Providing modeling reports for financial statements, rating agency reports, corporate aggregate monitoring, reinsurance placements, underwriting, and senior management requests;
  2. Managing cat modeling staff (4 people currently);

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Commercial Lines Manager performs some or all of the following duties:
  • Manage the in-house day-to-day underwriting activities for commercial lines to include: development and compliance of production goals and departmental standards; marketing efforts; proper and timely response to brokers and agents for all new business submissions/renewals; and adherence to sound underwriting practices throughout the department.
  • Develop pricing strategies, balancing firm objectives and customer satisfaction.
    Identify, develop, and evaluate marketing strategy, based on knowledge of establishment objectives, market characteristics, and cost and markup factors.
  • Create and produce ad hoc reports monthly to measure service standards and production goals.
  • Learn all aspects and functionality of our internal agency management system(s). Serve as a systems’ expert in order to provide assistance and information to department members and other managers within the organization.
  • Coordinate company visits with brokers and agents to tour the facility and meet team members associated with specific accounts.
  • Work closely with Compliance Analyst to ensure any out of state business is dealt with appropriately in regards to state insurance laws and regulations. In addition, to NYS laws and regulations, but not limited to affidavits, TRIA, etc.
  • Act as a liaison between the underwriting and claims department.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field.
  • A minimum of five to ten years of related work experience in a risk management position for all property/ casualty and professional lines of insurance.
  • A current NYS Broker’s License.
  • The candidate must have superior project management and process improvement skills and an innate ability to use an analytical approach to resolve complex issues.
