My client is looking for a Commercial Lines Field Underwriting Specialist in their Montana territory. They are responsible for generating new, profitable commercial lines business production from agencies in the assigned territory.

The ideal candidate will have three year's commercial underwriting experience and/or portfolio management. They will possess knowledge of commercial underwriting practices, procedures, and policies. They will have some knowledge of agency operations and field agency support needs. An undergraduate degree is preferable and pursuit of insurance coursework, i.e. CPCU is highly desirable. The position will require extensive travel in the field, service centers, agency offices, customer business locations. The ability to relocate is required. The candidate must have and maintain a safe driving record. There will be no direct reports.

Salary is based upon skill level and experience. Also, includes bonuses.

They will review submissions and identify exposure and risk from information provided; review terms and conditions and pricing.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five year’s professional liability underwriting expertise in surplus lines. They will have a four year college degree and/or RPLU or similar designation preferred. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The ideal candidate will assist in establishing and executing strategic marketing and sales plans to achieve company objectives. The candidate will partner with the VP to create goals for agents to help them reach their maximum potential for production. They will prospect new agent relationships and grow existing relationships in the assigned territory through face-to-face visits, phone calls and email. They will strategically plan territory routes to maximize efforts to boost sales outcomes. They will report essential product information, changes, or adjustments needed, including agent feedback, to the Product Department. The ideal candidate will serve as liaison between agents and organization and follow up on agency issues.

The candidate must possess knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products and services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics and sales techniques.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

This candidate will effectively manage an assigned territory for profit and growth through demonstrated mastery and application of all areas of agency management, underwriting, marketing and sales. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct and coordinate the company marketing functions though independent agencies for the US in accordance with the company business plan.
  • Direct and oversee the company marketing functions including market research to identify and develop new products and services.
  • Research and develop strategies and plans which identify marketing opportunities, direct marketing, and new project development.
  • Analyze and evaluate sales data to evaluate the effectiveness of sales, methods, costs, and results.
  • Identify areas that increase the ease of use of systems.
  • Supervise and direct a large staff of marketing representatives.

The ideal candidate will have 10 plus years of P&C Marketing experience, 5 plus years’ Property and Casualty Insurance Marketing Management experience. BS degree is required. The ability to travel nationally is also a necessity. The ideal candidate will also have leadership and sales skills and non-standard automobile experience is helpful, as well as Commercial Transportation experience. Multi-state experience is required.

  • Bachelors degree in finance, economics, mathematics, insurance or related discipline.
  • Two years minimum experience with capital markets, reinsurance and catastrophe modeling and reinsurance pricing analysis.
  • Mastery of database management programs (Access and Excel) including proficiency in Access query building and report writing.
  • Must be proficient in manipulating large amounts of data for statistical reporting.
