My client is a Property and Casualty
Insurance Group who maintains an ”A” (“Excellent”) Financial
Stability Rating from A.M. Best, with equity as of 12/31/05 in
excess of $250 Million. They are currently looking for a Commercial
Lines Underwriter for their San Antonio office whose primary duties
and responsibilities will be:
Commercial Lines underwriting, product
development and pricing processes for all states in which the
company engages, including:
- Act as point of contact for
commercial underwriting and product questions and interpretations
for TPA, Claims and Marketing.
- Review and approve applications
for Commercial Lines coverage submitted by producers
- Conduct regular commercial
lines underwriting audits
- Lead in the development and/or
modification to commercial underwriting guidelines and policy
forms/endorsements
- Manage commercial lines
inspection, engineering and loss control processes, follow-up and
evaluation
- Review and respond to DOI
correspondence on underwriting issues
- Assist in training and
development of Vendor personnel and Marketing Reps and Agents and
their staffs
- Manage the commercial lines
rate and product review process – including pricing, competitive
analysis, form/coverage analysis
- Review content of agent
communications and provide feedback
- Conduct agency visits with
Marketing Reps
- Constantly stay abreast of
issues in the market and develop appropriate response to issues as
they arise
Minimum Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will have
three to five years commercial lines underwriting experience with
specific emphasis on the Commercial Property, Package, BOP and GL
lines of business.
- Proven ability to manage heavy
workload and consistently meet deadlines
- Proven ability to develop and
implement and control adherence to commercial lines underwriting
guidelines
- Experience managing inspection
processes for timeliness and quality and reconciling billings
- Experience conducting
underwriting quality audits of Policy Service, Sales and Claims
files
- Experience training and
developing underwriters, sales/marketing reps and agency personnel
- Excellent written and oral
communication skills
- Ability to interact with and
present information to senior management
- Experience appropriately and
professionally corresponding with Departments of Insurance
- Bachelor’s degree and
continuing industry education
- Excellent organizational and
communication skills
- Demonstrated negotiation and
conflict resolution skills
Preferred Requirements:
- CPCU or progress toward
attainment of CPCU
- Multi-State Commercial Lines
underwriting experience
- Understanding of catastrophe
modeling, geographic spread of risk and impact on pricing
- Experience developing and
implementing new product lines

CAT Modeling Director

to manage a Corporate CAT modeling unit which models our Client’s
exposures to: US hurricanes, European windstorms, earthquakes, acts

territory will be in or around Syracuse, New York. Responsibilities
include working with the agency plant to ensure profitable premium
growth. The incumbent reviews loss and retention ratios and takes
action as necessary within his/her scope of authority. Other
responsibilities include assisting with recruitment of new agencies,
training as needed as well as coordinating agency meetings. Because
this is a newly created position, the incumbent will participate in
helping to define additional responsibilities of the position. Our
client specializes in writing large, complex commercial accounts.
Extensive travel is required for this position. An acceptable MVR
under our client’s policy is required. A company car, laptop and

allowed to work from a home-based office. This position offers a
